RVCA produces workout specific gear for some of the world’s most prominent MMA and Boxing athletes, sponsoring and providing rashguards, base shorts and Gi’s to its athletes.
As a company that empowers athletes and artists alike, this collaboration with Marcus Buchecha and World-Renowned LA street artist, Defer, was inspired by Buchecha’s 2019 championship run. A signature collection like this offers the opportunity to introduce state-of-the-art textile engineering and inspire the next generation of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu athletes to take on the sport.
This collaboration felt it needed to be replicated within the 3D space in order to explore new textile engineering capabilities. Using CLO3D, I am able to theorize designs and simulate how the Gi would look and move in real life. This allows for refinement of the design and make necessary adjustments before producing a physical sample. The use of digital tools also allowed for the exploration of new textile rendering capabilities, creating a more visually stunning final product.
